We won “Best Organization of the Year”!

We won!  First Christian Church of Janesville won the Best Organization of the Year award at the 2013 Outreach Awards!  A group of us represented the church at the ceremony.  Ron spoke, gave a bit of history about the church, and extended a warm invitation to the crowd to join us on Sunday morning at 9:30am.  And to sing in the choir.

Kids Korner – Today. The younger group is for 2 year olds to 3rd graders, and the older group is for 4th through 8th graders. Help needed- adults to share a story, do a craft, play a game etc. during the sermon -see sign-up sheet in the over-flow room.

Harvest Dinner – November 17 This year’s feast will be hosted by the Hoppe Family who needs your help. With your donations they will prepare the turkey, ham, potatoes and a hot vegetable. Please see the sign-up sheet in the over-flow room. The congregation is encouraged to bring a salad or dessert.

Constitution & By-Laws – Copies available in over-flow room with one that you may have. One copy on the clip board has the changes in red ink. Please leave this copy for others to use. Revisions will be voted on at the December congregational meeting.

Salvation Army Santa Shop – gives children an opportunity to purchase gifts for their parents for 25 cents. Diana Huckstep is collecting small, new or gently used items for this event. Especially needed are men’s items. Today is the last day to receive these items.

Jail Chaplaincy Request – Please bring new or nearly new toys (not wrapped) to church.  Toys will be delivered to children in Rock County whose parent(s) will be incarcerated during the holidays. Please bring your donations to the church by December 1.

Hanging of the Greens – Decorating for the holidays will take place on Sunday, Nov. 24 beginning about 1 PM. Many hands make the work lighter!

Ecumenical Choir Program –is December 8 at 7 PM at Oak Grove, 101 Church Street

Walk-in Messiah – December 15 at 7 PM at Cargill UMC 2000 Wesley Ave – A free -will offering will be received for ECHO

Prayer Concerns –may be written on blue cards in pews and placed with the offering.

Choir Practice is on Monday evening’s beginning at 6 PM. All voices welcome.  (Is this following the Prayer Concerns section because it’s a prayer concern?)

Community Give Away – December 20 and 21. Please begin saving items for this event

Loose Change Offering – in November will go to the Worship Committee
